Hawks push unbeaten Corsairs to the limit in 3-2 loss.

The unbeaten College of the Redwoods and CRC proved to be the match of the night . After winning the first game 25-19, the Hawks lost the following 2 games by 21-25 scores before rebounding in set 4 by the same 25-21 score to force a deciding 5th set. In a close finishing game, the Hawks lost to the Corsairs 17-15 after leading by a 15-14 margin. Cosumnes River College showed their determination to fight back from 10 points down in the 5th set which only goes to 15 points.

For the Corsairs, Coach Oceana Matsubu recognized the importance of the match saying, "My team is tired, that was a tough match, that's a good team (CRC) over there."

The Hawks combined for a season high 102 digs led by Justine Busse with 21 digs and followed closely behind by Lauren Smith, Olivia Sowles and Maya Young. The Hawks set another season high with 10 solo blocks and worked together to add another 3 combo blocks to their nightly total.

Cosumnes River Coach Kari Post knows how important of a match it was, "It was good to face off against a really good team like Redwoods, we pushed them and it was within reach and now we know what we have to do to win against teams at this level."

Coach Post also recognized the effort her team expended against their opponent, "I'm not upest at all about the outcome tonight, our team fought hard especially in the fifth game to come back and grab the lead, it was a good game for us."
