Beavers stop Hawks 3-0

After a tough four set loss to Modesto on Wednesday, the Hawks came into the ARC match fired up and they gave the Beavers all they could handle even though the final score was 3-0.

The Hawks were outscored by two in the first set 29-27, 25-23 in the second set and finished with a 25-19 score in the final set.

"It was right there for us", as Coach Kari Post praised her team on their performance, "I don't think we have played that well for a complete match all season, it was really impressive."

Hannah Norris led the Hawks with nine kills on a .381 kill percentage. Both Olivia Sowles and Meg Maddalena had six kills each to support Norris effort up at the net and Justine Busse had five kills of her own to go along with her nine digs on the night in what might have been her best all around game of the season.

Sowles led the Hawks with 10 digs of the 40 the Hawks had in the match. After Busse, Maddalena had six digs while both Lauren Smith and Maya Young had five each for the Hawks. Norris also chipped in with 4 digs of her own.

Smith also led the Hawks with 20 assists in the match in what might have been her best match overall of the season.

Smith knew the team played well on the evening, "It was a total team effort for us as we worked well in all areas of what we were trying to do out there."

With the loss the Hawks drop to 5-13 on the season with just a road game this week against Diablo Valley on Friday at 6:30 before winding down the season with five of the last eight games at home.
