STOCKTON (8-25) - Cosumnes River played their first match of the 2017 season as they took on Solano Community College as a part of the Delta Quad hosted by San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. The Falcons swept the Hawks 3-0.  

The Hawks finished last season with a 6-20 record while the Falcons finished with a 10-18 record overall and their season was completed in the first round of the CCCAA Northern California Regionals as they lost to Foothill College.

The first set was controlled by the Falcons' offense as the Falcons won the first set 25-18 and took a 1-0 lead in the match. In the second set, it was the Falcons' defense that was the key as they won the second set 25-11. In the third set, the Falcons won a tight set 25-20 and won the match 3-0.

For Cosumnes River, Rebakkah McLaughlin had eight kills and for Solano, Destiny Greenwood had a match high ten kills. McLaughlin had ten assists for Cosumnes River and Jade Horder had a match high seventeen for Solano. McLaughlin also led the Hawks with a match high eight digs and Makayla Smith also had eight digs for the Falcons.

For the match, Cosumnes River had a .176 hitting percentage while Solano had a .467 hitting percentage. The Falcons had five more service aces (9-4) than did the Hawks.

The Hawks' next match will be later today as they take on Yuba College to finish their time at the Delta Quad in Stockton.
