Hawks Win in Four Over Mariners

SACRAMENTO (9-2) - Cosumnes River played their first home match of the season as they took on College of Marin. The Hawks came away with a 3-1 victory over the Mariners

Both teams won their last match. The Hawks won 3-2 over Canada College on Wednesday in San Mateo while the Mariners won 3-1 over San Jose City College in San Jose on Tuesday

The first set was controlled by the Hawks from the beginning. The Hawks had eleven kills and only two errors in the set to win the set 25-14 and took a 1-0 lead in the match. In the second set, the Hawks would lead from the beginning and would commit only one error in the set. The Hawks won the second set 25-11 and took a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set, the Hawks would commit five errors and the Mariners would capitalize. The Mariners won a tight set 25-22 and trimmed the Hawks' lead to 2-1. In the fourth set, the Hawks would use thirteen kills in the set and win a back-and-forth set 27-25 and won the match 3-1. The win marked the Hawks' third in a row. 

For Cosumnes River, Rebakkah McLaughlin had a match high thirteen kills and for College of Marin, Alejandra Leon had twelve kills. McLaughlin had nineteen assists for Cosumnes River and Sarah Harris had a match high thirty-six for College of Marin. Maya Young led the Hawks with fifteen digs and Alexa Honsberger had a match high eighteen digs for the Mariners

For the match, Cosumnes River had a .212 hitting percentage with the best percentage coming in the second set at .381 while College of Marin had a .059 hitting percentage. The Hawks had six more solo blocks (7-1) than did the Mariners. 

The Hawks will have their next match later today as they take on Columbia College at Clark Court.
