Hayward, Calif.- The Hawks defeated the Gladiators from Chabot college 3-0, improving their record to 5-1. Cosumnes River played its sixth match of the season and took the victory during Chabot's first home match of the season.

The Hawks started off strong winning set one by the score of 25-9. They were able to carry that momentum forward by winnning the next sets by a combined score of 50-19. The match lasted just over an hour and saw the Hawks take their first victory in three sets on the season. Cosumnes River College only trailed once during the beginning of the second set. The focus this week for the Hawks was to not only start off strong, but maintain the focus and intensity through the whole match. 

"I really liked how we kept up our energy and intensity through out the entire match and allowed our communication to contribute to our win," states Maya Young, Sophomore Libero, "I'm excited to see the product that we can put out on the court once we start conference play since we play such competitive teams."

"I think our team played very well today. We kept up our energy which helped us stay so far ahead in the match. I'm very proud of how we focused on it in practice and brought it during our game," commented Meg Maddalena, Sophomore Middle.

Maya Young lead the team in digs playing as the team's libero. Sierra Voyvodich contributed 18 assists along with 5 service aces. The Hawks combined for 28 kills and 11 total service aces during the match. Cosumnes River College combined for a .288 hitting percentage on the night.

Up next, Cosumnes River College travels to Cupertino to play host school De Anza College (3-1) and College of the Siskiyous (1-3). The Hawks will play the De Anza Dons at 1 pm and play against the Eagles of Siskiyous at 3 pm.
