Hawks Soar To Sixth Win

Cupertino, CA- The Cosumnes River College Hawks defeated the College of the Siskiyous Eagles in five sets to take home their sixth victory of the young season. This win ties the win total of last year's Hawks' volleyball team.

After losing in three sets to the host school De Anza College, the Hawks regrouped to play a hard fought contest against the Eagles. During the five sets, the Hawks collected fifty one total kills against the Eagle defense. Rebakkah McLaughlin led the Hawks with thirteen kills on thirty six attempts. She also contributed twenty six assists to help setup her teammates. Freshman Kelsey Brehm and Sierra Voyvodich combined to add twenty three kills to the Hawks offensive attack. 

After a long set one that ended with the Eagles beating the Hawks by the score of 31-29, Cosumnes River rallied to take the next two sets by the scores 25-20 and 25-22. In set four, the Hawks lost momentum and struggled to gain any momentum. This resulted in the Eagles taking the set 25-15 and as result a fifth set. Cosumnes River collected itself and pushed on to take the deciding set 15-9 and the match against Siskiyous.

Second year head coach Kari Post had this to say about her team, "It was great to see our girls in tough competition. We stayed strong and were able to pull out the win. It was a great challenge going into conference next week." 

Up next- The Hawks (6-2) return home to take on the Lassen Cougars (3-8) at 5:00 pm. This will be the last preseason match for Cosumnes River before they begin conference play on Friday.
