New Hawks Ready To Take Flight

Sacramento, CA- 2018 will see a fresh infusion of players ready to take on the challenge of playing volleyball in college. Having a few days of classes under their belts, they are ready for games to start and to begin competing in games that count. High school games have been taking place for two weeks already and having watched some of their alma mater's play, these girls are chomping at the bit for some game action themselves. They will get the chance tonight as they take on Solano College and Yuba College in a preseason matchup that is taking place at San Joaquin Delta College at 3:00 and 5:00.

The Hawks have brought in 7 new freshmen to continue building upon the foundation laid by 3rd year Head Coach Kari Post Nahlen. Abby Hicks is a Setter that is joining the team from Capital Christian High School. Along with being the team's backup setter, she will also see time as the Hawk's Libero, and Defensive Specialist. Kylie Pires comes from Elk Grove High School and is one of the 3 new Pin Hitters for Cosumnes River College. Joining Kylie will be Ashanti Cason, one of 3 players that played for Liberty Ranch during their high school careers. Ashanti will be found playing Opposite Hitter, along with some time at the Outside Hitter position. Emily Cox is another Pin Hitter that is a freshman to the Hawk's team. She comes from West Campus High School, along with her sister Celste who is a Defensive Specialist. Taryn Oberle is a Middle Blocker that hails from Liberty Ranch High School and played alongside of Ashanti Cason last year. Celeste Cox joins the twin sister Emily, after spending her high school career at West Campus High School. Celeste is one of the team's Defensive Specialists. Larissa Vogelbacher joins the team from Red Bluff High School. Along with Celeste and Abby, you can find her anchoring down the defensive back line for the Hawks as a Defenesive Specialist.

The Hawks are eager to begin their season and look forward to improving in preseason before taking on their opponents in the Big 8 Conference. Last year, the Big 8 sent 5 teams to playoffs. These new Hawks look to help the Hawks fly to the playoffs this season.
