Hawks Stage Late Comeback Against Sierra, Unable to Overcome Early Deficit

Rocklin, CA - The Hawks traveled to Sierra College to take on the Wolverines in their 2nd away match of conference play. Going against Sierra is no easy task, as the Wolverines have won the Big 8 Conference the last 3 years. Unfortunately, the Hawks were unable to find their footing offensively until the third set of the match. This resulted in which the final score ended at 23-25 with CRC falling just short of taking a set victory and momentum into future sets.

The offense for the Hawks was shakey early, resulting in more errors than the Hawks normally hit. Miah Williamson once again paced the CRC offensive with 7 kills on a .250 kill percentage, which is lower than her normal. Miah still leads the Big 8 Conference in kill percentage and is 4th in total kills, uncommon for a Middle Hitter. Freshman Setter, Giovanna Parino, assisted on all 22 of the Hawk kills during the three set match. Abigail Hicks picked up 21 digs, which added to her season total of 270 digs, 2nd in conference and 6th in state.

Up Next - The Hawks (8-7) regroup with two days of strong practice before heading back on the road to take on Modesto Junior College (5-6). Last season the Pirates swept the Hawks with both games requiring more than the three sets to decide a victor. This year CRC looks to reverse the trend by starting off strong against the hosting Pirates.
