Hawks Battle Tough Against Delta

Stockton, CA - In a roadheavy first half of season, the Hawks (8-9) once again took to the road to take on San Joaquin Delta College (12-4). This marks Cosumnes River College's 12th game on the road during the season thus far. The Hawks battle tough, forcing three close sets against the Mustangs in which they were not able to put any of their reserve players. Despite the loss, the team looked good and the defense was strong against a formidable Delta offensive attack.

A trio of Hawks picked up double digit totals in digs during the match. Ainsley Beckman, a freshman from Inderkum High School, lead the Hawks with 19 digs; which was a season high for her. Sophomore Abigail Hicks was close behind with 16 digs of her own. Freshman Giovanna Parino not only picked up 11 digs, but also contributed 21 assists; this marks Giovann's 5th double double on the season. To help the defense, the Hawks picked up 2 solo blocks and 14 combo blocks. Deziree McKee picked up 4 combination blocks to lead the Hawks front line. Miah Williamson and Taryn Oberle both added 3 combo blocks apiece. Avery Jimenez added a solo block and 2 combo blocks to the strong defensive total of CRC.

The offense was lead by Miah Williamson's 8 kill night, adding to her team leading 166 kills of the season. Williamson is currently 4th in conference in total kills, 1st overall as a Middle Blocker. Taryn Oberle picked up 7 kills to add to the offensive attack by CRC. Giovanna Parino picked up 21 assists on the 22 kills for the Hawk attack, contributing on 95% of the Hawk kills.

Up Next - The Hawks Friday matchup against DVC at home has been rescheduled. The Hawks (8-10) will take on the Vikings (0-14) on Tuesday at home at 6:30pm in the main gym (CAC-100).
