Modesto, CA - After a year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Hawks were excited to get back on the court to play volleyball. With only two Sophomores remaining from the previous years, the Hawks are composed of 12 new "Freshmen". To start off the 2021 season, CRC traveled down to Modesto Junior College to take part in a pair of games against West Hills-Lemoore and Columbia College. 

The first game saw the Hawks take on the Golden Eagles of West Hills-Lemoore. The Hawks brought home the victory with a 3-0 win (25-17; 25-18; 25-15). Miah Williamson paced the Hawks with 7 kills followed closely by Aija Redding and Micah Stinson who contributed 6 kills each. CRC outpaced the Golden Eagles on offense with 29 kills to 17 kills. Freshman Victoria Espinoza kept the opposing team off balance with 7 service aces, along with Miah Williamson which added 3. CRC combined for 15 service aces in the match, helping buoy the offensive attack. Aija Redding also led the team by 10 digs. Giovanna Parino and Victoria Espinoza both added 7 apiece to the team's 38 total digs. On defense, the Hawks talled 11 blocks (3 solo, 8 combo) to help them soar to victory.

After a short intermission, CRC took on the Columbia Claim Jumpers. In three sets, the Hawks emerged victorious (25-15; 25-10; 25-18). The Hawks offense proved to be a formidable force as the Hawks totaled 34 kills to the 13 for Columbia. Aija Redding led the Hawk offense with 6 kills with Miah Williamson followed close behind with 5 kills. Once again, CRC served tough with 9 service aces with Miah Williamson adding 3 more to her total on the day. Aija Redding paced the defenive effort for CRC with 12 digs, folowed by Michaela Bennett-Wells (8 digs) and Victoria Espinoza (7 digs). 

Up Next - The Hawks (2-0) return home for their first home games of the season against College of San Mateo (1-0) at 1:00 and Los Medanos (0-0) at 5:00. Both games will be live streamed on CRCHawks.com with no fans being allowed in attendance.
