KNIGHTS PICK UP TWO WINS AT SHASTA CROSSOVER

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team won two of three games at its Shasta Crossover Tournament over the weekend, beating Monterey Peninsula 61-28 and Cosumnes River 76-33 and losing to San Mateo 44-42.

The Knights also beat Hartnell 56-47 earlier in the week, which was not included in the tournament.

SHASTA CROSSOVER

Shasta 61, Monterey Peninsula 28
The Knights put up 22 points in the opening period and didn't allow a point in the fourth quarter to cruise to victory. All eight Shasta players scored in the game with Iiobii Nabahe-Henry leading the team with 11 points off the bench. Amber Wallace had nine points, 11 rebounds and five steals, Isabela Padilla scored nine points, Kaleia Mizuta scored eight points and Creedence Shaver scored eight points in the win.

San Mateo 44, Shasta 42
Shasta outscored San Mateo 27-21 in the second half but it wasn't enough to pull out the win. Mizuta's 14 points and four steals paced the Knights, Trinity Fernandez scored 12 points to go with four steals and Amber Wallace scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Shasta 76, Cosumnes River 33
The Knights led by 11 at half and dominated the fourth quarter 26-4 en route to victory. Mizuta scored 19 points off the bench to lead the Knights. Wallace (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Padilla (11 points, 12 rebounds) each turned in double-doubles and Fernandez added eight points and a team-best three steals.

Shasta 56, Hartnell 47
Shasta led 27-23 at halftime but outscored the Panthers 17-12 in the third period to pull ahead. Mizuta's 15 points and nine rebounds led the way for the Knights. Wallace scored 12 points to go with four steals, Jeanna Bucher scored nine points and Padilla chipped in with eight points and nine boards.

Shasta (7-5) plays in a crossover tournament Friday against Solano.
