Falcons Defense Stymies Hawks

In the game of basketball missing shots is inevitable, but for Folsom Lake College, poor defense never is. As a staple of their program since Ali Mollet took over you can always rely on the Falcons to put forth a strong defensive effort.  Despite scoring 12 points below their season average and shooting only 34.9% from the field, FLC held Cosumnes River College to 37 total points, winning 56-37.

There is a reason why the Falcons are top-10 in the state in steals per game and it all started with a dominant performance by Emily Ko. She tallied a career-high 7 steals, on top of hitting five three pointers to give her 16 points to lead all Falcons. FLC finished with 19 total steals (6 above their season average). They also finished the game with a season-high 6 blocks, led by Megan Williams with 3 of them, and grabbing 7 rebounds in the process.

With limiting scoring, the Falcons still had two other players in double digits. Reya Lee tallied 11 points with a couple of three pointers and 5 rebounds, and Corrie Harrison finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Macie Purbaugh stayed atop the Big 8 leader in assists, adding 7 more to her total.

The Falcons continue their best start in program history, standing at 12-4 (2-2). CRC drops to 6-11 (0-5).

Thursday, 1/12 at American River 4-10 (2-2) at 7:30pm

Saturday, 1/14 at Sacramento City 1-11 (0-3) at 3:00pm
