Hawks blast Beavers pitching again

The 4th ranked Cosumnes River College Hawks once again put on an offensive display, tallying 17 hits, 10 in the first 3 innings to defeat American River College 10-3 at Beaver Field on Thursday.  The Hawks roughed up freshman Kirby Broadbent (Oakmont) for 7 runs in three innings.  All but one of the Hawks 17 hits were singles.  The Beavers offense came out a little stagnant as well, mustering very little until scoring in the 7th inning on a Steve Mercado (Antelope) groundout.  The ground ball could have been an inning ending double play but SS Cameron Bennett (Rio Linda) was in motion on the pitch, allowing CF Justin Jordan (Folsom) to score.  The Beavers added two runs in the 8th, as Mercado singled in a run and RF Alex Gaskin (Jesuit) walked with the bases loaded.  Freshman lefty Mikey Ramirez (Del Campo) threw 5 innings of relief allowing 3 runs, just one earned.  The Beavers will try to salvage the final game of the series at Jerry Conway Field at Cosumnes River College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
