Falcons stun Cosumnes River with 2-0 upset victory

The Folsom Lake men's soccer team continued their roller coaster ride of a season on Tuesday afternoon when they took down Big 8 Conference leader Cosumnes River with a 2-0 shutout in south Sacramento.  The Hawks were previously undefeated in Big 8 play and sporting a 5-0-1 conference record while enjoying a #6 state ranking.  But the Falcons, who lost to CRC at home 1-0 four weeks ago, were on a revenge mission.  Sophomore midfielder Armando Jimenez gave the Falcons an early lead with a Penalty Kick goal in the 20th minute, then sophomore Freddie Allen scored seven minutes later for a 2-0 Falcon lead.  With the Hawks pushing the ball up the field, the FLC defense withstood the challenge and turned away every attempt to score.

The Falcons (6-6-4 overall, 3-1-3 in Big 8) are currently in second place in the Big 8 with three games left and will play at Modesto (6-6-5 overall, 1-3-3 in Big 8) on Friday afternoon.
