The Cosumnes River Hawks (10-6) control game 2 against Merced College (8-4) beating them 11 to 7. Damien Chavez, with a huge offensive day for the Hawks. Chavez, had 3 hits along with 7 RBI's in the contest. The big hit was a grand slam blast over the left center field fence. This stopped a Merced late game come back, as the Hawks scored 6 runs in the top of the 8th inning. 

AJ Wood started on the mound for the Hawks, pitching 4 quality innings. Then the Hawks handed the ball to Joey Pankratz (3-0), to give him his third win of the year. Daniel Vitoria, closed out the bottom of the 9th to slam the door shut. Cosumnes will start League play Tuesday against American River College (5-9).
