Hawks Struggle Late

The Cosumnes River Hawks (14-12, 4-6 BIG 8) lose in a wet muddy mess. The Hawks were at Union Staduim home of the Sacramento City Panthers (17-6, 5-2 BIG 8), where they get a tough loss in extra innings. The Hawks controlled the entire game lead by John Treat who went 6 innings and 1/3 of scoreless baseball. Treat only allowed 3 panther hits in his start.

The Hawks offense couldn't have hit the ball harder this Tuesday. It seemed every hard hit ball had a panther standing there to catch it. Aaron Pierce launched his 5th home run of the year giving the Hawks a 5-0 lead in the top of the 8th inning. The Hawks relievers really struggled on this wet rainy day walking 5 batters in three innings. With those 5 batters walked the Hawks added 2 costly late inning errors. This allowed Sacramento City a chance for a come back and they did exactly that. In the bottom of the 10th frame the Hawks had a one run lead with 2 outs and a man on first. Jaylund Johnson of the panthers proceeds to hit a 2 run home run sending the Hawks home with a loss. The Hawks will look to recover from this loss facing the Panthers in game 2 Thursday at Conway Field.
