Hawks Win Big 8 Opener

SACRAMENTO (2-28) – The Hawks hit the road for their first Big 8 Conference game of the season as they took on Sacramento City College. The Hawks won 5-2 over the Panthers.

Josh Caldwell took to the mound for the Hawks. Caldwell had six innings of work to guide the Hawks to the win. Caldwell recorded six strike outs and allowed two runs. Joey Pankratz came on in relief and earned his first save of the year. Pankratz recorded three strike outs during his outing.

Jeremy Kolb drove in two runs on the day boosting the Hawks offense. The Hawks also had RBIs by Essex Brown, Alex Crouch and Clay Duval. Brown, Duval, Burle DixonBrett Graber and Griffin Selby had  hits for the Hawks.

Caldwell got the win for the Hawks while Tanner Cunha was the losing pitcher. Pankratz earned the save.

The Hawks and Panthers will continue their series tomorrow at Conway Field.
