SACRAMENTO (3-28) – The Hawks returned to Big 8 Conference play as they took on Diablo Valley College at Conway Field. The Hawks defeated the Vikings 7-3.

In their last game, the Hawks won 9-3 over Skyline College while the Vikings lost 11-3 to Modesto Junior College.

Josh Caldwell was the starting pitcher for the Hawks. Caldwell threw six complete innings allowing two runs, four hits and issued two walks. Caldwell recorded six strikeouts on the day. Kyle Galart and Troy Davis also got work on the mound. Galart threw two innings and Davis had one.

Griffin Selby led the Hawks' offense. Selby went 2-4 with two RBI and scored once. Greg Creamer was 1-2 with two RBI and scored once. Alex Crouch was 2-3 and was plated once. Burle Dixon, Clay Duval, Brett Graber, Jeremy Kolb and Dean Lucas all added hits for the Hawks.

Caldwell was the winning pitcher while Mike Manley got the loss for the Vikings.

The Hawks and Vikings will play game two of their series tomorrow in Pleasant Hill.
