Hawks Cap Weekend in Ukiah With Win over Cougars

UKIAH (11-17) – The Hawks finished up their time at the John Hogue Memorial Classic hosted by Mendocino College as they took on Lassen College in the consolation championship game. The Hawks defeated the Cougars 79-73.

Both teams won their last game. The Hawks won 81-48 over College of the Redwoods yesterday in Ukiah while the Cougars won 89-85 over Cerro Coso Community College in Ukiah yesterday.

In the first half, the Hawks started the game on a 12-5 run using some aggressive defense and shots in the paint. The Cougars would respond with a 12-4 run to take the lead at 17-16. The Cougars would slowly extended their lead during the remainder of the half and led 41-31 at halftime.

In the second half, the Hawks would trim into the Cougars' lead. The Hawks would take the lead for good at 58-57 lead with 9:18 remaining. Lassen attempted to foul and stop the clock, but the Hawks were in the bonus and made key free throws to secure a 79-73 victory.

Marcus Robinson scored seventeen, Khari Hutt scored fifteen, Drew Buggs scored fourteen and Kenneth Cooley scored ten for the Hawks in the win.

The next game for the Hawks will be November 29th as they host College of the Siskiyous at the 40th Annual James Clark Classic.
