This Week: The Hawks drew Lassen College in the first round of the CCCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The first round will start on Wednesday and the Hawks-Cougars matchup is on Wednesday at 7:00 pm

Scouting the Hawks:  Cosumnes River was selected to the #16 seed with a 16-12 overall record and an 11-5 record in Big 8 Conference play. Sophomore Khari Hutt leads the Hawks in scoring with 14.1 points per game.

Scouting the Cougars: The Cougars finished second in the Golden Valley Conference with a 16-10 overall record and a 7-3 record in conference play. Sophomore Tarren Storey-Way leads the Cougars in scoring at 19.3 points per game.

Last Time Out: This is the second meeting between the two schools this season. The Hawks defeated the Cougars 79-73 in consolation championship of the John Hogue Memorial Classic in Ukiah on November 17^th. They have six common opponents in American River College, College of the Siskiyous, Foothill College, Modesto Junior College, Sacramento City College and San Jose City College. The Hawks have a 6-3 record against those opponents while the Cougars finished with a 6-1 record against those opponents.

Championship Appearances: This is both team's first appearance in the CCCAA Men's Basketball Championship since the 2016-2017 season.  

About The Coaches:

Jonathan James is in his third year of coaching men's basketball at Cosumnes River. Prior to Cosumnes River, he was an assistant with Cosumnes River and Las Positas College. He was also the head junior varsity coach at Valley High School and the varsity assistant at Pleasant Grove High School.

Will Freedman is in his fourth year coaching at Lassen. Prior to his time with the Cougars, he was the sophomore and JV coach at Santa Monica High School. Freedman was also the assistant coach at Lassen in the 2014-15 season.
