The Hawks were tested by a tough underrated Santa Rosa squad for both games of a doubleheader at CRC Stadium, and in the end the Hawks prevailed 8-7 in 8 innings in game 1 and 4-3 in game 2.

The Hawks found themselves down 6-0 going into the bottom of the 4th in game 1 when they were able to pick up 3 runs, then 1 run in the 5th and another 3 runs in the 6th inning to take the lead 7-6. Santa Rosa wouldn't quit and scored 1 run in the top of the 7th to tie the game and move into extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th inning Brenda Velasquez scored Dani Medina on a base hit to win the game in dramatic fashion. Medina had a big day at the plate with a 4 for 5 game.

Aimee Hutchinson got the win in relief of Angelica Dark.

Game 2 was another battle as the Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning, but Santa Rosa came right back with 3 runs in the top of the 4th. Aimee Hutchinson was able to keep the door closed as the Hawks pulled out a 4-3 victory as Hutchinson got her second win of the day. Amber Wright and Dani Medina lead the way at the plate with Wright going 4 for 4 and Medina going 3 for 3.

On the day, Wright went 6 for 9 and Medina 7 for 9 to lead the Hawks at the plate while Hutchinson got both wins.

The Hawks head to Stockton for another conference doubleheader against San Joaquin Delta College Saturday with a 12 pm start time. You can follow along on GameChanger.
