Hawks Win 79-36 Over Pirates

MODESTO (1-11) – The Hawks continued Big 8 Conference play as took on Modesto Junior College in Modesto. The Hawks outscored the Pirates by twenty-six in the first half en route to a 79-36 win.

Both teams lost their last game. The Hawks lost 64-56 to Santa Rosa Junior College on Tuesday in Sacramento while the Pirates lost 87-49 to American River College in Sacramento on Tuesday.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead going up 21-11 in the first quarter and as they headed into halftime with a 45-19 lead. Every Hawk that played scored in the game as the Hawks had their largest margin of victory of the season.

Brookelyn Larkin scored a game-high twenty-eight points. Larkin was 10-18 from the field and was 6-7 from the free throw line. She also had six assists. Arionna Butts who joined in with fifteen points and seven rebounds. Sophie Kupu tallied a season high of thirteen points while Micaela Dagler had a double double as she pulled down a career high twenty-three rebounds and had eleven points. The Hawks shot a season high percentage from the free throw line at 77%.

Head Coach Coral Sage said, "This was a great win for our team. Everyone was able to play and work together for the win. This was a big win for us going into next week's games. It gives us the momentum that we needed."

The next game for the Hawks will be Tuesday as they take on Sierra College in Sacramento.
