Hawks with a commanding win against Hartnell.

The Cosumnes River College Hawks (2-3) hosted the Hartnell Panthers (0-6) Wednesday night at Clark Court, looking to get another win following a team win on Saturday. The Hawks were able to hold the Panthers offense to just 23% from the floor, while the Hawks shot 53% from the floor and 82% from the free throw line. Cosumnes River was able to get stops early in the game. This resulted in transition buckets that gave the Hawks a comfortable lead in the first half.

The offensive push was lead by sophmore guard, Arionna Butts, who poured in 16 points in the win. Butts was aggressive in transiton, and was able to force multiple turnovers that she converted into buckets. Sarah Hinton and Chelsea Shirley also helped contribute to the lead early, with 11 points for Hinton and 12 points and 11 rebounds for Shirley.  Freshman forward, Veronica Alejandrez also stepped up big in the Hawks win and had 10 points and 4 rebounds. The defensive end was anchored by freshman center, Tamia Grey who took 3 charges that give the Hawks extra possessions.

The Hawks look to build on this team win as they travel to Santa Ana next week to take on Pasadena City in the Bristol Marketplace Classic tournament.
