Coach Coral Sage enters her 17th year coaching, 16th as a head coach. As Coach Sage begins her 15th year at CRC she is looking toward the future as she builds on the past.

Each year the program continues to build and grow stronger. Last season Coach Sage took part of the season off to care for her newborn baby boy. The Hawks made it through a bumpy season and learned a lot along the way. Coach Sage is looking forward to re-building the program back to a championship program. During Sage's tenure at CRC the Hawks are proud to say they pride themselves on the personal, academic and athletic development of each young lady who comes through the program. The Hawks are also proud to say they have sent every graduating sophomore on to the 4 year level, a specialty school or the military. Coach Sage is also proud that multiple former players were selected to play overseas as well as a developmental professonal league in the US.

Before coming to CRC, Sage spent a year as the head coach at De Anza College in Cupertino, California. There she posted a 16-12 record and a berth to the first round of play-offs.  Coach Sage started her coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of California, Riverside: a Division I Big West Conference team.

"Our mission as a coaching staff is to develop the total athlete. This will be done through sport specific training, monitoring of academic progress and life lessons to be used outside of athletics. Our program will showcase excellence through competition of the student athletes in a healthy learning environment. We will create an atmosphere of learning along with sportsmanship, respect of fellow peers and a love and enjoyment for the game. In our program the student-athlete will attain physical, mental and emotional skills that will perpetuate achievement in school, sport and life."

"Here at Cosumnes River College we run an up tempo, fast break offense looking to score early on the break. We look for athletic young women who will fit into this type of program. We also run an aggressive defense that pressures you all over the court. The three main focuses we like to emphasize are DEFENSE -- REBOUND -- RUN. We believe these three components will lead to success on the court. These three components comprise the other underlying ideals of the women's basketball team which are TEAMWORK, HARDWORK, AND DEDICATION."

"We are looking to attract local young women who want to make an impact on a team. Our program looks for young women who are looking to develop into a complete person, academically, athletically and personally. Our Scholar-Athlete program gives our athletes something to strive for in the classroom, teaching them excellence in academics as well as athletics. CRC has one of the nicest basketball facilities in the state, our athletes have all of the resources to be a successful student-athlete at their fingertips, and will receive quality instruction in the classroom as well as the basketball floor, what else could a student-athlete ask for?"

A 2001 graduate of University of California, Riverside, Sage finished her playing career as a post player for the Highlanders, helping them make the transition from a Division II University to the Division I level. Before transferring to UCR, Sage was a Community College All-Conference player for Sierra College. She helped lead her team to a 36-1 record and a State Championship title as a sophomore. Coach Sage received her Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Science in 2002 from UCR and her Master’s of Science degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2003.
