Hawks Move to 3-1 After Splitting at Home

Sacramento, CA - The Hawks split today's matches against the College of San Mateo (1-0) and Los Medanos College (0-1). Both matches went to four sets with CRC falling short in the first match against San Mateo (27-25, 12-25, 13-25, 24-26). 

The Hawks were unable to muster enough offense hitting .027 on the match. Miah Williamson once again led the Hawks with 8 kills and a .350 hitting percentage. Aija Redding followed closely behind with 7 kills on 22 swings. The Hawks totalled 40 digs with Aija Redding (9 digs) and Victoria Espinoza (6 digs) setting the tone on defense. The front line proved a formidable opponent limiting the Bulldogs to a .184 hitting percentage. Miah Williamson contributed 5 blocks (2 solo, 3 assisted). Maddy Motta tallied 2 assist blocks with four other Hawks combining to pick up assisted blocks. 

After the slow start, the Hawks regrouped to take on the Los Medanos Mustangs in a match that saw CRC come out victorious (25-19, 25-23, 18-25, 25-13). Three Hawks lead the offensive attack for Cosumnes River College. Miah Williamson (10 kills, .400), Aija Redding (9 kills), and Miach Stinson (7 kills) helped lead the Hawks to victory. Sophomore setter Giovanna Parino picked up a double-double with 18 assists and 12 digs. Reese Werner and Miah Williamson each had 4 service aces to pace the Hawks' 12 aces. Defense once again set the tone as the Hawks totaled 57 digs and 13 blocks. Reese Werner totaled 10 digs to go along with her service aces to help provide energy to the Hawks play. Miah Williamson (2 solo blocks 4 assisted blocks) and Aija Redding (3 assisted blocks) helped limit the offense for LMC, holding them to .042 hititng percentage.
