Angela DaPrato
Title: Assistant Coach

Angela DaPrato joined the Cosumnes River College women’s basketball coaching staff in June 2023. This is her first season as an assistant coach for the Cosumnes River College women’s basketball team.

DaPrato has been coaching for more than 25 years at various levels, including AAU, middle school and high school. She is known for her zone defenses, pressuring the ball, running a fast-paced offense, and player development.  She has experience coaching males and females and has won several championships at the competitive and non-competitive levels. DaPrato is a stickler for details and stresses fundamentals, mastering the basics, and giving your best on and off the court.

DaPrato started coaching basketball when she was 15 years old, volunteering as a youth basketball coach for the City of Galt Park and Recreation basketball program.  She started coaching AAU teams her senior year of high school and coached several male and female AAU teams, winning several tournaments.  While attending the University of California, Davis, DaPrato was hired by the City of Davis to coach youth basketball and won several championships.  After graduating from UC Davis, DaPrato returned to her hometown of Galt and coached the McCaffrey Middle School 7th grade boys’ basketball team. She led the team to their first championship in several years.  DaPrato continued to coach for McCaffrey Middle School for two more years — coaching an 8th grade boys’ basketball team that placed second in their league and 3rd in the Northern California State Middle School Tournament, an undefeated 8th grade girls’ basketball team, and an undefeated and championship 7th grade boys’ basketball team.

In 2018, DaPrato was hired by her alma mater and took over as the head coach of the Galt High women’s Varsity basketball team.  DaPrato transformed the program and led the Galt High Lady Warriors to one of their best records, snapping a 62-game league losing streak.  DaPrato was voted by her peers as the CIF Sierra Valley Conference Girls’ Basketball Coach of the Year for the 2018-2019 season.  After Galt High, DaPrato joined the Sacramento High Lady Dragons women’s basketball program and assisted Sacramento area legend Michele Massari.  DaPrato served as an Assistant Coach for the Varsity team and the head coach of the Lady Dragon’s Junior Varsity team for four seasons before joining the Cosumnes River College women’s basketball program.

DaPrato has many great basketball memories but one of her best experiences as a player was attending the Stanford Cardinals Tara VanDerveer youth basketball camp and being named on the All-Star team.  She learned a lot at the camp and competed against some of the top players in the country. DaPrato played basketball for Galt High and was the Varsity team captain in her senior year. She attended UC Davis after graduating from Galt High and was the first in her family to attend a four-year university straight out of high school.

DaPrato graduated from UC Davis in 2005, with three Bachelor of Arts Degrees.  She majored in Communications, English, and American Studies with an emphasis in Media Studies.  DaPrato is a member of several coaching associations and enjoys attending coaching seminars because she likes learning new strategies and collaborating with her peers.
