Hawks Advance in CCCAA Playoffs

The Cosumnes River Hawks softball team (CRC) advanced to the Super Regional round of the CCCAA Softball State Championships with a sweep over Feather River College over the weekend. On Friday, the Hawks won game one 6-4 and prevailed 8-0 in game two on Saturday afternoon.

"I was really pleased with the way we came out and played this weekend," said head coach Kristy Schroeder. "We had some injuries that forced us to adapt our line up, but it worked out. We had some players step up for us."

Anjalina Dahdouh earned the win in the circle for CRC in game one, striking out three. Sophia Ortiz led the Hawks with three hits and three RBI including a go ahead double in the sixth. Sarah Babby added two hits and also scored two runs for CRC.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead in game two and kept the pressure on Feather River, ending the game in five innings. Layla Towner led the Hawks with three hits and three RBI including a home run. Tamisha McBride added a hit, a run and two RBI. Tatiana Blas was dynamic in the circle striking out six in just five innings.

CRC returns to action at Sierra College on Friday in a best-of-three series for a trip to the CCCAA State Championship.
