CRC LADY HAWKS SOCCER TEAM WILL HOST 2ND ROUND PLAYOFF GAME

The CRC women's soccer team will continue the Northern California playoffs by hosting the Taft College Cougars in a 2nd round match up this Tuesday 11/25/2014 at 2:00 PM in the CRC Stadium.  The Cougars took 2nd in Central Valley Conference.

The Hawks (8-7-6) finished in fourth place in the tough Big 8 Conference, but given the strength of the conference was still seeded 11th in Northern California.   CRC defeated Bay Valley Champions Folsom Lake College who were seeded #6 1-0 in the 1st round on Saturday night.  They won by solid effort by the entire defense with great saves by the goalkeeper Anna Brown.  The goal was scored by outstanding freshmen Kate Burkhart.

The Lady Hawks will face a Taft program that finished with an overall record of 13-7-1, finishing 2nd in the Central Valley Conference.  Sophomore Forward #20 Celia Rangel who has tallied 20 goals to go with 12 assists led the Taft Cougars this year.  The Cougars made it to the 2nd round by defeating Big 8 Conference powerhouse Santa Rosa Junior College 1-0 Saturday.

The common opponents for the two teams were Santa Rosa JC and Fresno City College.  The Hawks lost 0-2 to Fresno City College while Taft College played Fresno City College twice losing 0-2 and 1-6. The Lady Hawks played Santa Rosa twice losing 0-1 and winning 1-0, while Taft College just defeated Santa Rosa JC 1-0 Saturday.

The Hawks head Coach Cesar Plasencia says "Taft is a big test for us, we have to play with the passion and desire required in the playoffs to move on."

Which ever teams comes out victorious on Tuesday will travel to the winner of #2 Modesto Junior College versus #7 Mendocino College in the quarter finals.
