Hawks Sweep at Home, Move to 6-2

Sacramento, CA - The Hawks hosted Taft College and Shasta College as part of a trio of games played on the evening. CRC played both sets close but came out victorious picking up their fifth and sixth wins on the young season. Beginning at 1:00 PM, the Hawks (4-2) took on the Knights of Shasta College (2-2). After a late comeback attempt fell short in the first set (23-25), the Hawks regrouped to take the next three sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-21). sophomore Middle, Miah Williamson hit .391 picking up 11 kills to pace the Hawk offense. Micah Stinson added 6 kills of her own followed by 5 from Maram Mahfouz. CRC kept their opponents out of system all match with strong serves across the board. Grace Maddock picked up 4 service aces with Miah Williamson and Aija Redding both contributing 3 apiece. Defense is where the Hawks really showed their resolve by totaling 19 blocks (5 solo, 14 combo) during the match. Maram Mahfouz, a freshman, totalled 4 solo blocks on the match. Miah Williamson added 4 combo blocks, along with 3 from Maram Mahfouz. Emma Eigenberger, Maddy Motta, and Aija Redding each contributed 2 combo blocks apiece. Not to be outdone, a trio of Hawks totaled double-digit digs. Victoria Espinoza paced the Hawks with 16 digs. Aija Redding (12 digs) and Grace Maddock (11 digs) helped CRC stop the offensive attack of the Knights. 

The second match saw the Hawks (5-2) host the Taft Cougars (1-2). An exciting 5-set match took place with the Hawks pulling away for a late victory (25-14, 21-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-11). The offense was led by Miah Williamson's 14 kills on 36 attempts. Aija Redding added 12 kills and Micah Stinson contributed 11 kills with a .435 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter, Giovanna Parino, led the Hawks with 31 assists. The defense was once again solid with 4 Hawks picking up double-digit dig totals. Victoria Espinoza (24 digs) and Aija Redding (23 digs) helped set the tone for the defense. Reese Warner (16 digs) and Giovanna Parino (12 digs) also helped anchor the backrow for CRC. Up front the Hawks created a wall, picking up 14 blocks (2 solo and 12 combo). Miah Williamson (2 solo, 4 combo) stifled the offense of the Cougars. Maram Mahfouz (3 combo), Micah Stinson (2 combo) and Emma Eigenberger (2 combo) helped slow down the attack for the Cougars, allowing the defense to pick up numerous balls. 

Worth Noting - Three Hawks picked up a double-double on the day. Giovanna Parino (31 assists, 12 digs v Taft), Grace Maddock (13 assists, 11 digs v Shasta), and Aija Redding (12 kills and 23 digs v Taft).
