Hawks Defeat Giants 9-1

SACRAMENTO (2-16) – The Hawks continued their homestand as they started a three-game series with College of the Sequoias. The Hawks defeated the Giants 9-1.

Both teams won their last game. The Hawks won 5-0 over Chabot College on Tuesday in Sacramento while the Giants won 3-2 over Bakersfield College in Bakersfield on Tuesday.

Alex Crouch started on the mound for the Hawks. Crouch would put in three innings of work giving up one run. Joey Pankratz came on in relief. Pankratz was sharp throwing five shutout innings on the mound. Brendan Murray came into the game in the ninth inning and did not allow a run.

The Hawks' offense started early scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run by Greg Creamer. Burle Dixon went 3-4, JD Mico went 2-3, EJ Brown went 2-3 and Alex Crouch was 2-2. Jeremy Kolb was 1-1. Kolb was walked twice and scored three times. Mico scored twice while four players - Creamer, Crouch, Dixon and Brett Graber - scored one run apiece.

Pankratz was the winning pitcher. Dillon Howell got the loss.

The Hawks and Giants will play the second game of the series tomorrow at Conway Field at noon.
