The Hawks Men's Basketball team extends their Big 8 winning streak to 6-0 with a 97-68 win over Modesto Junior College.  The Hawks dominated the Pirates on all aspects of the court throughout the entire game.  CRC came out ready to play and did not let up the entire game.  At halftime the Hawks had a commanding lead, and were up on the Pirates by 27 points, 55-28.  The Hawks are now 18-4 overall and 6-0 in the Big 8.  

Three outstanding players that all ended the night with double-doubles led the Hawks.  These players were: TJ Williams with 10 rebounds, 12 points, Jaycob Velasco with 12 rebounds, 14 points, and David Straughter with 12 rebounds, 13 points.  The leading scorer of the night was AJ Bridges, who had 23 points and 8 assists, making him just 2 assists shy of having a double-double. MJC came out hungry in the second half and scored 40 points, however it was not enough as CRC scored 42 in the second half. MJC had three players tie for their teams leading scorer: Zach Gonzales, Anthony Hubbard, and Evan Grimes, all of them scoring 11 points each.  For the team stats the Hawks were dominant in all categories.  The major deficit in the game came from down low under the basket, the Hawks racked in a total of 41 rebounds as appose to the 25 rebounds that the Pirates totaled in.  Also the Hawks shot 55% from the 3-point line, making a total of 11, and the Pirates were 36.4% with a total of 8.  

The Hawks were moving the ball around very well all night and getting a lot of players a chance to score.  Ball movement and speed were a problem for the Pirates as they could not keep up with the Hawks most of the night.  The Hawks are a run and gun style of team that can score very fast and at will if they get hot. The Pirates are known to be a very good shooting team, however the shots were not going their way and their key player Josh Allen struggled all night.  On the other hand, the Hawks were shooting very well from all areas of the court.  Head Coach Giacomazzi said, "When we shoot it, we're pretty hard to guard, we got a pretty good rhythm and flow going." 

Next, the Hawks will face the Santa Rosa Bear Cubs at home at 7:30 PM on January 28th.  The Bear Cubs are 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the Big 8, ranking them 3rd in the Conference, look for this to be a great match up.
