HAWKS LOOK TO STAY UNDEFEATED AGAINST BUTTE TODAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Following their first week of the young 2013 season, the CRC Hawks open the week looking to stay undefeated against a disciplined Butte Roadrunners team.

Cosumnes River (0-0-2) comes into today's match undefeated following draws to northern California foes Feather River and Canada during the season's opening week.  Butte (0-2-0), historically a "middle of the pack" team from the Golden Valley Conference, looks for their first victory of the 2013 season today.  Men's soccer head coach Ron Preble cautions that regardless of Butte's record thus far, they're not a team to overlook.

"Their coach is very experienced, and they're very sound in their technical and tactical training," says Coach Ron Preble.  "They're always competitive... organized and disciplined."

Coach Preble says we can expect his team to settle in, and to play their style of play, looking to attack from the beginning.  "We'll remind our players this isn't an easy day."  "We'll focus on the elements we have prepared for, and work to get better at these things."  In preparation for Butte, Preble says the staff took a "calculated risk" over the three-day holiday weekend, giving his team the weekend off to rest.  "It's a long season, and after the preseason that we had, our guys could use the rest."

Preble believes if his team sticks to their game plan, they will always be in a position to be successful on the soccer field.  "The formula for our program since I've been here has been to play with high energy, (to play) within our system, and to emphasize defense," says Coach Preble.  "If we stick to this formula we will always be in a position to get a result."

Kick-off for today's match is scheduled for 4.  Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for seniors, and $2 for children.  Admission is always free for CRC students, staff and faculty.  Concessions will be available to purchase at the event.
