HAWKS TRAVEL TO SANTA ROSA TODAY TO TAKE ON BEAR CUBS

SANTA ROSA, Calif.- The Cosumnes River men's soccer team, coming off a disappointing performance against rival American River, will look to rebound against the Bear Cubs of Santa Rosa JC this afternoon on the road.  The Hawks, who competed well before falling to SRJC 1-0 earlier this season, will look to pick up the series split later today.

CRC is coming off one of the team's more disappointing performances of the season, one where the Hawks fell to the Beavers of American River College on the road last Friday.  The team strayed away from their gameplan, and from what put them in contention for a Big 8 title, snapping a six-match undefeated streak with the 2-1 loss.

From the opening whistle, CRC appeared to deviate from their system of play.  The Hawks did not appear to bring their best in the match, falling victim to the intensity of the match, as the match became very physical late. Freshman forward Isaac McDaniel picked up a red card, removing him from the rest of that match, and barring him from participating in today's match against the Bear Cubs.

As disappointing as the performance might have been, CRC was actually ahead early in the match, up 1-0 before ARC made a run.  The Beavers scored their first goal of the afternoon in controversial fashion, as goalkeeper Carter Giroux appeared to be fouled while making a save, before an ARC forward managed to find the net.  ARC would put the match away later in the contest on a penalty kick.

The Hawks currently find themselves in fourth place, with an opportunity to improve with a road victory today.  Santa Rosa, currently in second place in the Big 8 conference, has played well of late.  The Bear Cubs have won their last five matches, and have only lost one match in their last ten contests.  CRC will return home this Friday when they play host to Delta College.
