Shutout Streak Alive After Thrilling 0-0 Draw

SACRAMENTO (9-21) – On Friday, Cosumnes River men's soccer team started Big 8 Conference play as they hosted the CCCSIA #4 Falcons of Folsom Lake College.

The Falcons started the game on the front foot creating scoring opportunities, but Hector Grajeda recorded four first half saves. The Hawks offense studdered into the half generating only one shot on target.

In the second half, the Hawks showed more purpose and energy but could not get past the Falcons' defense. The Hawks defensively were dialed in allowing one shot on goal in the second half.

Coach Ron Preble had this to say about the match, "Truthfully, I felt we were not ready for the speed of the match, but as the game grew on and it was still 0-0 we knew we can get at least one. We had a couple of opportunities, as did Folsom Lake, and you know what…I'm happy with the result. I hope it woke the kids up to what conference play will be like. Our goalkeeper, backline and our defensive midfielders are doing an outstanding job keeping us in the last four matches.

The Hawks improved their record to 4-2-2, 0-0-1 in Big 8 Conference play. The tie also stretched their shutout streak to four games.
