Baseball vs. Sierra College

Men's Tennis falls to Reedley.

Men's Tennis falls to Reedley.

Reedley College traveled to CRC for the Hawks first home duel match.  With enthusiastic crowd support and a fierce determination, the Men's and Women's team both fought valiantly to overcome early deficits.  Though both teams came up short (both losing 5-4), they put forth their best team effort to date.

In Men's play, Stephen Albert, a freshman from Salem, OR, and Yashneel Krishna played inspired tennis to defeat Reedley at the number one doubles spot.  Utilizing deft net play and creative point construction they outlasted their opponents in a very tight tie-breaker, to the delight of the CRC fans. Brandon Phun, Niko Lacerna, and Abiel Lazcandon were victorious in singles as well.

Coach Ellis remarked, that the highlight of the match was seeing the hawks improve their mental toughness.  "Every time they're exposed to a new level of play, to new challenges, they get better, that's a sign of resiliency that will continue to benefit them in tennis and in life.  Dealing with life's disappointments and struggles and coming out more determined to improve is such an important quality in young people."

The CRC Men's team is in action next, on Friday when they travel up the road for their match against Sacramento City College.
