After a successful 2015, the Hawks head to Monterey to open the 2016 season with a 4 game tournament hosted by Monterey Peninsula College. The Hawks finished 4th in the state with a 31-13-1 record in 2015, and hope to repeat a return trip to the State Championship Tournament in 2016.
It will take a strong performance in 2016 to repeat as the Big 8 Conference Champions. Coach Schroeder, in her 6th season, believes this year's team has the potential to meet and/or exceed last year's team. With 5 returning sophomores, Kaitlin Pires, Brenda Velasquez, Daniela Medina, Kacey Lutz, and Raechel Hooper providing the leadership and experience for a talented group of freshman. The freshman class is anchored by Aimee Hutchinson, Angelica Dark, and Ashleigh Berg who will handle the pitching duties while Courtney Beatty, Amber Wright, Alexus Acosta, Zoe Meredith, Lindsay Lambert, Makenna Noya, Ashley Akers, Mickaela Robertson, Alex Scardina will provide the offense and defense.
The combined talent of both the sophomores and freshman will make the 2016 season an exciting team to watch as they drive for a second Big 8 Championship and a return to the State Tournament.
