Sierra Out-Hits The Hawks To Split Day

The Hawks faced Sierra College the #5 ranked team in the state and came away with a split on the day. Game 1 saw The Hawks capitalize on just 7 hits to score 9 runs on Sierra's 2 errors to win 9-5. Game 2 saw a different story as The Hawks left 11 runners on-base on 10 hits and committed 3 errors to take the loss 9-6.

The Hawks put all of their 9 runs on the board in game 1 in the first 4 innings. Courtney Beatty lead the way going 3 for 4 putting up 2 RBIs adding a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th. Cecilia Rivera and Veronica Smith went 1 for 2 with Rivera picking-up 1 RBI and Smith picking-up 2 RBIs. Chelsea Martinez added 3 RBIs. 

Brittany Baroni picked-up the win going 4 1/3 innings giving up 10 hits, 3 walks, striking out 1, and allowing 5 earned runs. Ashleigh Berg picked-up the save going 2 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and no runs.

Game 2 The Hawks picked-up 10 hits but stranded 11 runners while committing 3 errors to drop the back-half 9-6. Courtney Beatty lead the way again in game 2 going 4 for 4 at the plate adding 2 RBIs. Chelsea Martinez went 2 for 4 adding 1 RBI. 

Brittany Baroni picked-up the loss for The Hawks going 2 2/3 innings giving up 6 hits and 5 earned runs. Ashleigh Berg threw 2 innings giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs. Chelsea Martinez finished the game going 2 1/3 innings giving up 1 hit and allowing 1 earned run.

On the day, Courtney Beatty hit .875 with 4 RBIs and a solo home run.
