Hawks Drop Two to Mustangs

STOCKTON (2-23) – The Hawks traveled to Stockton to open Big 8 Conference play against San Joaquin Delta College. The Mustangs took game one 7-1 and game two 6-1.

Game 1

The Hawks struck first with a run in the top of the third. Kayley Rocha and Mary Baccay singled and then Rocha stole home. The Hawks get a couple more hits from Anabelle Benfiet and Hannah Steege later in the game but no runs were sent across. The Mustangs would score five runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and would score another two in the sixth inning to secure the win. Rebekah Pedersen got the loss for the Hawks. Steege had two hits in the game.

Game 2 

The Mustangs scored five runs in the first inning due to errors and four hits to put them ahead early. Kayley Rocha tried to spark the Hawks in the third with a single to center but was left stranded. In the fourth, Ashlee Kaiser doubled to right center and Steege advanced Kaiser to third on a base hit to the shortstop. The Hawks were unable to score in the fourth. The Mustangs scored another run in the bottom of the fourth. Benfiet launched a home run in the sixth inning to trim the Mustangs' lead to 5-1. Kayley Rocha tried to help the Hawks going 2-3. Courtney Lozano got the loss for the Hawks.

The Hawks will return home to continue Big 8 Conference play against Sacramento City College on Tuesday.
