Hawks Top Diablo Valley for Seventh Straight Win

The Cosumnes River College softball team extended their winning streak to seven games with a 6-0 victory over Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill this afternoon.

Tatiana Blas once again earned the win for the Hawks. She fanned 12 Vikings enroute to her 21st win of the season. She leads both the Big 8 and California Community Colleges Athletic Association (CCCAA) in strikeouts with 191 on the year. Her 21 wins are tied for 4th in the state and her ERA of 1.34 is 13th in the CCCAA.

Offensively, CRC was led by Sarah Babby and Brooke Hanson who tallied three hits apiece. Hanson had two RBI and Babby added a run. Malia Babasa and Isabella Vela each had two hits for the Hawks who had 13 total hits on the day. Babasa is fifth in the Big 8 with a .417 batting average and Hanson is 13th in the league at .344.

"We came out and took care of business today," commented head coach Kristy Schroeder. "Tatiana continues to do a great job for us on the mound and we had good enthusiasm today and it showed with our bats.

Tenth-ranked CRC is back in action at Modesto for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 20.
