The Hawks got a much needed win in convincing style on Friday night as they used a strong secong half in shutting down the Pirates 72-49.

The Hawks had four players in double figures scoring with Daija Ward's double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds leading the way. Gina Ingravallo back from a bout with illness scored 14 points and Taneisha Dyer and Trina Shaner each had 10 for the Hawks. Nayani Gordon had 8 points and 7 rebounds for CRC while QuoQuese Jackson had 9 boards off the bench along with her two points.

Akila Britton, Jasmine Chapman, and Yvonne Taylor all had 4 points apiece for the Hawks.

The Hawks outrebounded the Pirates 47-43 in one of the keys to the victory while the Hawks had 14 steals in the game as well. The Hawks forced Modesto into 25 turnovers in the game while commiting just 12 themselves.

With the win the Hawks move to 6-15 on the year and are now 2-6 in Big 8 play.

Next up for the Hawks is a road game at Santa Rosa on Tuesday night at 5:30 followed by a home game on Friday against Sacramento City at 5:30pm.
