Hawks lose close game to Modesto 3-2

Modesto, CA- Cosumnes River College took to the road after their Friday bye to face their conference opponent, the Modesto Pirates. The Hawks came out on fire to take a 25 to 11 victory in set 1. Meg Maddalena and Sierra Voyvodich led the team with 3 kills apiece during the first set.

In set 2 the Hawks forced extra play, but were unable to come out with the victory losing 28-26. Rebakkah McLaughlin contributed 5 kills and 6 assists in the extended set. Maya Young led the team with 5 digs during the second set followed closely by Justine Busse's 4 digs.

Set 3 saw the Hawks regain their edge and energy as they took the set 25-14 to take the match lead. Modesto tied the match during set 4 with a 25-19 victory to force a deciding 5th set.

The deciding set came down to the very end and a thrilling victory for Modesto. The Pirates defeated the Hawks 17-15 to take their 3rd conference victory on the season. The Hawks of Cosumnes River College fell to 8-10 on the season.

Up Next- The Hawks travel East to take on the Falcons of Folsom Lake Junior College. After losing to the Falcons earlier in the year, the Hawks seek revenge.
