Cosumnes River College wrapped up their season this last week with two wins to end their season. CRC defeated DVC at home and ended the season with a win on the road at Sac City. This season has been one of the best seasons in years statistically.
Kills- 4 Hawks tallied over 100 kills during the season. Rebakkah McLaughlin led the Hawks with 166 kills on the year. Kelsey Brehm contributed 150 kills. Sierra Voyvodich was close behind her with 146 kills. Learning a new position, Destanie Elliott was the fourth member of the Hawks to surpass the 100 kill level with 115. As a team, CRC hit .122 on the year.
Assists- The Hawks combined to average 7.40 assists per set and a total of 681 assists. Rebakkah McLaughlin had 442 assists on the season to pace the Hawk attack. Sierra Voyvodich added on 111 to the total on the season. Maya Young also contributed 80 assists as the team's libero.
Defense- CRC ranked 5th in conference for blocks during the 2017 season. Elizabeth Smith led the Hawks with 37 blocks on the year. Meg Maddalena was not far behind with 34 blocks during the year. Rebakkah McLaughlin posted 32 blocks to help form a solid front line. Destanie Elliott was the fourth Hawk with above 20 blocks on the year as she added in 24 blocks.
The Hawks also put up a solid number of digs during their season. Maya Young had 270 digs to pace the Hawk backrow. Rebakkah McLaughlin posted 256 digs on the year. Justine Busse ended the year with 200 digs as the team's defensive specialist. The Hawks combined for 1206 digs on the season.
Achievements- Justine Busse achieved the Scholar-Athlete award for the 2016 season and is on track to repeat for the 2017 season.
Rebakkah McLaughlin was nominated for as an All-Conference Player for the Big 8 Conference.
Maya Young and Meg Maddalena are sophomores that both have offers to play volleyball at the next level for a 4 year University.
