Solano Beach Volleyball Falls to Cosumnes River in Conference Matchup
Sacramento, CA – The Solano College beach volleyball team faced a tough challenge on Friday, falling 4-1 to Cosumnes River College at the CRC Beach Courts. Despite a strong showing from their top doubles team, the Falcons were unable to overcome the depth of the Hawks.
Solano’s lone victory came from the duo of Davis and Projillo, who secured a straight-set win in the No. 1 doubles match, defeating Pham and Reyes 21-19, 21-18. Their strong chemistry and consistent play kept Solano on the board.
However, Cosumnes River controlled the singles matches, sweeping all four courts in two sets each. The No. 1 pairing of Aguiar and Guintu put up a fight but fell 14-21, 17-21 to Kwalwasser and Siever. The No. 2 team of Capili and Mass struggled early but showed improvement in the second set, ultimately losing 9-21, 16-21.
At the No. 3 position, Bermudez and Calvelo were unable to find a rhythm, dropping their match 14-21, 14-21 to Cline and Lee. In the final singles match, Asuncion and Lovell battled but were outmatched, falling 14-21, 11-21 to Jones and Throm.
Solano Beach Volleyball Falls to San Joaquin Delta in Conference Match
Sacramento, CA – The Solano College beach volleyball team faced another tough opponent on Friday, falling 5-0 to San Joaquin Delta at the CRC Beach Courts. Despite some competitive sets, the Falcons were unable to break through against the Mustangs' strong lineup.
In the top doubles match, Davis and Projillo fought hard but fell 16-21, 13-21 to Cormack and Saiers. Solano’s No. 1 singles pair, Aguiar and Guintu, kept things close in the first set before Delta pulled away, winning 17-21, 11-21.
At the No. 2 spot, Capili and Mass also put up a fight early but couldn’t maintain momentum, losing 16-21, 12-21 to Arroyo and Brock. The No. 3 pairing of Bermudez and Calvelo had the closest battle of the day, taking their match to three sets. After dropping the first set 18-21, they bounced back with a strong 21-16 win in the second. However, Delta edged them out in the decisive third set, 4-15.
Rounding out the lineup, Asuncion and Lovell fell 15-21, 15-21 in a competitive match against Sands and Taylor.
Despite the tough loss, the Falcons showed flashes of strong play and will look to regroup in their upcoming matches. Solano continues their season next week, aiming for their first win in conference play.
