Falcons Soar on Youth Night, Defeat Cosumnes River 69-63

The Folsom Lake College Falcons put on an exciting performance for a packed house on Youth Night, holding off the Cosumnes River College Hawks 69-63 on Friday evening. With a lively crowd of young basketball enthusiasts cheering them on, the Falcons set the tone early and never looked back.

The Falcons came out firing in the first quarter, outscoring the Hawks 23-9 behind a balanced offensive attack and relentless defensive pressure. However, Cosumnes River clawed their way back into the game, tightening the gap as the night progressed. Folsom Lake managed to hold steady and secure the victory thanks to key performances from their standout players.

Athena Brombacher led the way for the Falcons, delivering an all-around impressive performance with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Gianna Darte provided a spark off the bench, knocking down four three-pointers en route to 14 points of her own. Ursula Chen was rock-solid at the free-throw line, sinking all nine of her attempts to finish with 12 points. Livi Fernandez controlled the boards, pulling down a game-high nine rebounds while adding 10 points.

While the Hawks made a strong push in the second half, outscoring Folsom Lake in both the third and fourth quarters, the early deficit proved too much to overcome. The Falcons' defensive resilience and timely scoring kept Cosumnes River from completing the comeback.

Beyond the action on the court, Youth Night was a resounding success. A large crowd of local youth basketball players filled the stands, bringing energy and enthusiasm throughout the game.
