HAWKS SECURE SECOND PLACE IN THE 37TH ANNUAL JAMES CLARK CLASSIC

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Hawks men's basketball team is on a well deserved short break between matches currently, their next match is on 12/15 against Ohlone College, after they fought till the end to secure a second place finish in the 37th annual James Clark Classic held at CRC from 12/3 to 12/5. 

CRC played host to seven other colleges for the three-day tournament: Feather River, Sacramento City, Chabot, Merced, Alameda, Napa Valley and Siskiyous. Alameda matched up with the Hawks for the first day while Feather River faced Sac City, Chabot took on Merced, and Napa Valley played against Siskiyous. 

The Hawks defeated Alameda 83-65 in round one, with forward Gerard Andrus, guard Kenny Doss and forward Phillip Morgan leading the team in scoring with 24, 16 and 11 points scored respectively. 

Alongside the Hawks, Chabot, Napa and Feather River moved onto the second round of the tournament leaving Merced, Sac City, Alameda and Siskiyous to move on to play for the a consolation spot in the tournament. 

In day two, CRC matched up against Napa and pulled off a close win as they finished with a score of 64 to Napa's 54. Andrus and Doss led the team in scoring again, with 12 and 11 points scored, and were joined by guard Leondre Lintz who scored 10 points in the game. 

Feather River defeated Chabot in another close game, 86-80, setting them up to take on CRC in day two to decide who took the first and second spots within the tournament. Chabot and Napa were left to play for third place, while Sac City defeated Merced 94-60 and Siskiyous beat Alameda 79-77 leading to a consolation spot battle between Sac City and Siskiyous on day 3.

Day three brought a win for Sac City to secure the consolation spot in the tournament as they defeated Siskiyous 62-55 and Chabot beat Napa 78-68 to take the third place spot. In their battle for first place and the championship place Feather River took it all as they defeated CRC 85-63. Forward Will White, and guards Michael Murphy and Victor Wariso led the team in scoring with 14, 10 and 9 points scored. 

 The Hawks kick off the Modesto Junior College Tournament against Ohlone College on 12/15 at 2:00 PM.
