New to our staff for the 2020 Season we bring back former Stand-out Hawk David Smith. Coach Smith comes from a distinguished baseball background. A native of Elk Grove, Ca. Coach David Smith attended powerhouse Elk Grove HS where he was a 2013 Section Champion. Coach Smith then attended CRC in 2014 & 2015 racking up accolades and earning him a scholarship to MLB U aka Long Beach State Dirtbags.
Coach Smith while at LBSU pitched in two NCAA regionals (2016 & 2017). Coach Smith's Sr. year afforded him the opportunity of a lifetime when in June he was drafted by The Washington Nationals in 2017. Coach Smith played two season in Single A affiliated ball for the organization before retiring in early 2019. Coach Smith returned to his alma mater Elk Grove HS and was the Freshman Pitching coach last year.
Coach Mico had this to say about the hiring of Coach Smith to the CRC Coaching Staff ; "We are happy to have our Ace back in the fold and helping our young men at CRC achieve their goals on the mound. Coach Smith brings an energy & youthful experience to the ball park on a daily basis. We are very lucky to have him HOME."
