CRC battles at Sierra

CRC Hawks (7-13, 1-7) vs. Sierra College (5-15, 2-6)

@ Cosumnes River College

Sacramento, Calif -- The Hawks (7-13, 1-7) started the game against the Sierra Wolverines (5-15, 2-6) on a 10-1 run in the first four and a half minutes of the game after Brandon Gray hit a three. CRC's team defense was solid as well.

Cosumnes River continued to hold onto their lead for much of the first half. However, during that time, the Hawks were accumulating ticky-tack fouls that put Sierra in the bonus earlier than anticipated. CRC did maintain their lead at 20-13 at the 7:23 mark when Andre Huddleston knocked down a skip-pass three from Terrell Garner.  Sierra continued to chip away at the deficit slowly. At 27-23 with less than 3 minutes to play before halftime, Sierra closed out the half with a 8-0 run and took the lead into the locker room 31-27.

In the second half, Sierra continued to pull away from CRC by grabbing a 42-30 lead with 15:45 left. The Hawks gave up a 19-3 run that spanned from the tail end of the first half and into the second half. After a CRC timeout by head coach Jonathan James, CRC went an 8-0 run to climb back into it. The game remained tight.

Huddleston and forwards Christian Hough and Rashaad Guthery were big parts in keeping the game close. The Hawks got it to 59-54 with 3:39 remaining. Despite the effort, CRC took the loss 68-60.

The Hawks have one game due to the Tuesday bye and will face American River 1/31 on the road.
