Hawks Spilt Big Weekend 2-2

Saturday started a two-day 4 game weekend for the Hawks at CRC Stadium.

The Hawks took their #6 State ranking against #1 San Mateo and lost a tough game after a fast start in the 1st inning for the Hawks with 3 runs on 4 hits to finish in 7 innings with a 9-5 loss. Amber Wright, Raechel Hooper, Makenna Noya, and Courtney Beatty provided the hits to open the game and jump on a 3-0 lead. San Mateo came back and broke the game open in the top of the 5th and 6th innings putting together 8 runs on 7 hits. The Hawks fought back in the bottom of the 7th, but came up short adding 2 runs with another hit by Wright and Noya. Aimee Hutchinson got the loss for the Hawks.

Game 2 Saturday the tables were turned on the Hawks with Fresno City College jumping on a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. The Hawks fought back to score 3 runs on 8 hits, but came up short with a 5-3 loss. Lindsay Lambert was 2-3 at the plate as the other hits were spread throughout the lineup. Angelica Dark took the loss for the Hawks.

Sunday the Hawks had a chance to rebound with a two-game series with Sequoias, and the Hawks wasted no time in sweeping Sequoias 8-0 in game 1 and 5-4 in game 2. 

The Hawks capitalized on 6 errors by Sequoias in game 1 with timely and an efficient 7 hits. Dani Medina went 2-2 at the plate along with Brenda Velasquez's 2-2 day with 2 RBIs. Lindsay Lambert's single in the bottom of the 6th plated the 1 RBI to end the game by run rule 8-0. Aimee Hutchinson got the win for the Hawks and moved her record to 7-1.

Game 2 took a little more work from the Hawks after the Hawks took a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, Sequoias bounced back with 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. The Hawks picked-up 2 more runs in the 3rd, and then Angelica Dark shut the door on Sequoias. Dark gave up 5 hits and struck-out 9 to get the win for the Hawks. Dark moved to 5-2 on the season.

The Hawks will take their 12-3 record and finish this homestand against Lassen at CRC Stadium with a doubleheader Friday starting at 12 pm.
