Hawks Rally Late But Not Enough To Overcome San Jose

The Cosumnes River College Hawks mounted late comebacks, but could not overcome San Jose City College in two softball games today. The Hawks dropped both ends of the double header, 6-2 in game one and 10-8 in game two in Sacramento.

In game one, San Jose capitalized on seven hits and three Hawk errors to take the victory over the Hawks. Jessell Lewis went all 7 innings for the Jaguars striking out two. Becky Pedersen (Ukiah/Ukiah HS) and Audrey Brookins (Galt/Liberty Ranch HS) provided a combined effort for the Hawks. Ryley Krum (Elk Grove/Elk Grove HS) was an offensive standout, going 2-for-3 for the Hawks.

In game two, the Hawks put up four runs in the first inning off the bats of Aliah Cisneros (Stockton/Tokay HS), Danielle Pfennig (Lodi/Lodi HS), and Daisy Angeles (Elk Grove/Elk Grove HS) who all notched RBIs. However, San Jose responded by scoring six runs in the top of the second inning and another run in the 3rd. San Jose tried to pull away but the Hawks scrapped back in the 4th and 6th innings, putting up another four runs, but could not stop San Jose. Pfennig took the loss for the Hawks going 4.2 innings.
