Hawks Sweep Conference Foes on the Road

The Cosumnes River Hawks completed a sweep of conference foes this week with 5-0 and 2-1 victories over Delta College and Sacramento City College, respectively. Ashlee Toy picked up the win in both games.

"It was a good to get those wins on the road," said head coach Kristy Schroeder.

On Tuesday, The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second when Ka'Leivavi Railback and Gabi Lipsky scored on an error and Leandra Coronado drove in Tamisha McBride. CRC tacked on a couple of late runs when Mary Baccay scored in the fifth and Toy scored in the seventh, both on fielder's choice. Baccay, Lipsky, McBribe, and Danielle Pfenning all had two hits in the game.

In a game rescheduled due to positive COVID tests within the Sac City program, CRC scored its only runs Thursday in the fourth. Pfenning drove in the first run after a double by Toy. Baccay scored the second on a sacrifice fly by Railback. The defense was able to hold the lead giving up only one run.

"The sign of a good team is being able to win when you are not at your best. I thought we did that this week. We could have played better, but I am always happy to get wins over Delta and City," summarized Schroeder.

CRC is scheduled to host non-conference foes, Fresno City College and College of San Mateo on Saturday.
